Naderje D.

Naderje is a bright and loving ten year old who is in the seventh grade in our BGM High School. She lives in an area called Berna near Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother and three sisters. Naderje’s sister is Danise who is also seeking a sponsor for school. Their mother is a share cropper on a large farm in the mountains. Each morning, Naderje and her sisters get up before dawn, start housework, prepare their uniforms for school, and as their mothers heads up the mountain to work, Naderje and her sisters head out walking to school. It takes them two hours to walk to school. With the recent downturn in the economy and the dangers along the way to market and school, life has become very difficult for their family. But Naderje and her sisters are thankful to be able to go to school because all of the schools closer to where they live have closed. They paid the deposit for school this past year but were not able to continue paying tuition. They must be sponsored before they can register for next school year. Naderje enjoys going to church, studying, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics. When she grows up, she wants to learn to be a nurse!
