FRANCESCA is a timid little twelve year old from the village of Cargo near Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother, three sisters, two brothers, and grandparents. She is sad that her mother doesn’t have any job to make money for her family. Her grandfather works a garden, but he is getting old and is not healthy. She is so afraid that her grandfather will die one day and there be no source of income for her family. She would love to find a sponsor so that he could at least not worry about how she and her siblings will be able to afford to go to school. Francesca loves to play with friends, eat, wash dishes, and study. Her favorite subject is mathematics and when she grows up she wants to become a doctor.
