Daniela is a bright and playful 9-year-old in the first grade at BGM Primary School. She lives in Bonet with her parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Each school day, Daniela makes the hour-long walk to school with a group of children from her village. For safety, a parent or older sibling usually accompanies the children. While they are in class, Daniela’s mother often sells candy, flip-flops, or household goods near the school to help provide for the family, while her father travels to the local market to sell merchandise. Although they work hard, supporting a family of ten leaves little money for school tuition, and several of the children are now in the sponsorship program.
When she’s not in school, Daniela loves to play with her friends, creating games and toys from whatever materials they can find. Her favorite subject is French, and she enjoys learning the language because she knows it will open doors for her future. Daniela dreams of becoming a nurse one day so she can care for others and make a difference in her community. A sponsorship would give her the opportunity to continue her education and pursue the future she hopes for.
