DIEUNETTE is a motivated and hardworking 13-year-old who lives in the village of Galette-Chambon with her parents, three sisters, and three brothers. She is currently in the eighth grade at BGM High School, where she is dedicated to her studies and eager to learn.
Her parents are vendors in the local market, but in recent years they have struggled to make ends meet due to increasing gang activity in their area. Traveling to the market and to distributors has become both dangerous and costly, as gangs have set up checkpoints and demand payment along the roads. As a result, the family’s income has decreased significantly, making it difficult to cover school expenses.
One of Dieunette’s siblings has already received sponsorship, and her parents are hopeful that Dieunette will also have the opportunity to continue her education. She is a determined student who understands the value of learning and is committed to building a better future.
When she is not in school, Dieunette enjoys attending a local professional school, where she learns skills such as technology and cosmetology. She believes that gaining a variety of skills will give her more opportunities to support herself and her family in the future. Her favorite subject in school is algebra, and she dreams of becoming a nurse one day, inspired by older students from BGM who have achieved this goal.
