Blandy’s story is one of incredible resilience and the power of a village. Having never known his biological father or mother, Blandy was taken in as an infant by a local pastor who felt called to provide him with a home and a family. Following the pastor’s passing, his wife has continued to raise Blandy as her own. Though he faced an uncertain beginning, he has grown up surrounded by the love and stability of his church community. Blandy’s life is actually the fulfillment of a divine vision. Years ago, a local pastor dreamt of three boys in desperate need of a home. Over the next few years after his dream, the pastor came across three different orphaned boys. Answering the call from his dream, the pastor took them in, providing food, safety, and an education. Blandy was one of those boys. Following the pastor’s recent passing, his widow has bravely continued to raise them. However, as a seamstress making a meager income in the village, she can no longer afford the high cost of secondary school without her husband’s support.
At 15, Blandy is now a student at BGM High School. Entering the 7th grade is a significant milestone in Haiti, marking the transition into secondary education. For a young man who started life with no family of his own, being part of the BGM school system provides him with the structure, mentorship, and academic tools he needs to build a successful independent life. Blandy is a bright and dedicated student who consistently earns high grades. His favorite subject is Spanish, and he has set his sights on a technical future: he wants to grow up to be an engineer. Beyond the classroom, Blandy is a vibrant part of his community. He is a talented musician who plays the drums during church services and is always eager to help with chores around the house to support his foster mother.
By sponsoring Blandy, you ensure that the late pastor’s mission continues and that this gifted young man isn’t forced to drop out of school due to poverty.
