Dondigley is a 4 year old in the village of Galette Chambon, Haiti. He lives with his aunt and two cousins (who he considers brothers). Dondigley has faced unimaginable tragedy at a young age. He lost both of his parents in a devastating accident when their charcoal truck capsized while traveling down a mountain from the market. In an act of profound love, his aunt adopted him, bringing him into her home to raise him alongside her own two sons. Though they began as cousins, the three boys now share the bond of siblings.
Dondigley’s aunt works tirelessly as a sharecropper in a local garden. Her income is meager; she uses what little produce she can bring home to feed the boys and takes any extra to the market to sell. However, the market is a dangerous place for a four-year-old. For two years, Dondigley has accompanied her, often bringing along his own toys to play with while she works. His aunt desperately wants him in school—not only for his safety but to ensure he has a future beyond the garden.
Dondigley is a joyful child who loves to sing and often pretends he is a professional singer. When asked about his future, he says he wants to be a doctor. While he has never visited a doctor himself, he has heard they are successful and help people, and he dreams of achieving that same success to help his family.
By sponsoring Dondigley at Maranatha School, you provide: A protected environment during the day, allowing his aunt to work freely to support the family; enrollment in kindergarten, providing the foundation for his dream of becoming a doctor; access to a daily hot meal and wellness checks from the local clinic; and opportunities to participate in church activities and music, where he can continue to share his love for singing.
You can finalize this sponsorship through But God Ministries. Your support can turn Dondigley’s dreams into a reality.
