Chedela is a sweet little five year old from the village of Galette Chambon. She lives with her single mom who works in a garden and sells produce in the local market. She has been able to make enough money to feed her daughter, but she cannot afford to send her to school. Now that Chedela is old enough to go to school, her mother believes she might be able to wash clothes or clean houses to make a little more money to support herself and her little girl. She would love to get a sponsor so that she can start her education on time and learn and eat a hot meal at school while her mother works. Chedela enjoys playing with friends, singing, and helping her mother in the garden. The thing she looks forward to most about school is learning French. When she grows up, she wants to become a nurse.
