Schnaydine is part of an incredibly large and busy household. She lives with her mother, eight sisters, and five brothers. Being one of 14 children, she has grown up understanding the value of shared resources and hard work. As a “Rheto” student high school, this means she has two more years of secondary education. She serves as a powerful role model for her 13 siblings, showing them what is possible through dedication.

Schnaydine’s mother is a hardworking vendor in the local market. In the current economic climate of 2025, where inflation has made basic goods nearly unaffordable, she works tirelessly to provide food for her 14 children. However, the modest profits from a market stall are nowhere near enough to cover the tuition, uniforms, and books for a family of this size.
In Haiti, many families are forced to choose which children can attend school and which must stay home. Because Schnaydine is so close to graduating, the pressure to find the funds for her final year is more urgent than ever.
Living in the village of Bonet, Schnaydine’s day begins before sunrise. To reach her 12th-grade classes, she must walk three hours to school and three hours back home every single day. This six-hour journey on foot shows a level of grit and determination that few possess. She does not complain about the long miles; she simply focuses on her goal of finishing her education to help her mother and siblings. Schnaydine is also a young woman of remarkable character. To help her mother support their family of 14 children, she has spent years taking on various jobs within the community. Whether she is washing clothes for neighbors or babysitting, she has always been willing to work hard to contribute toward her own school fees. However, as she enters Reto (12th Grade), the stakes have changed. High school tuition is significantly more expensive than elementary school, and the academic workload is much more demanding. To succeed in her final two years and pass her national exams, Schnaydine can no longer spend her evenings and weekends working manual labor; she needs to be able to dedicate that time to her studies.
In the classroom, Schnaydine’s favorite subject is Economics. She is fascinated by how systems work and how resources can be managed to improve lives. Outside of her textbooks, she finds joy and peace in reading and singing, which offer a brief escape from the six-hour daily walk she makes between her village and school. Her ultimate goal is to become a Doctor of General Medicine. Having grown up in an area where medical care is scarce, she dreams of returning to her community to provide life-saving care. She understands that the road to medicine is long, but she has already proven she has the stamina to walk it.
Schnaydine is at the finish line of her high school career. Your sponsorship is the final bridge she needs to cross from student to graduate. By sponsoring Schnaydine, you are rewarding years of perseverance and miles of walking, ensuring this determined young woman finally receives the diploma she has worked so hard to earn. By sponsoring Schnaydine, you are not just helping a student finish school; you are investing in a future doctor who has already spent a lifetime working, walking, and praying for this exact opportunity.
