Evens is a smart and determined ninteen year old who just recently passed the 9th grade National Exam to gain entrance into the 10th grade at BGM High School. Considering his situation, this is a huge accomplishment. Evens lives with his single mom and three sisters and two brothers. For years now, Evens and his siblings have been having to take turns going to school because their mother could not afford to send all of them to school. Evens has worked hard though, and last year he studied for the National Exam on his own and asked the school administrator to let him take the test and he passed even though he had not been in school! He scored so well on the exam that our administrator agreed to let him come to school even though he couldn’t pay tuition. He does need to find a sponsor before registering for school in the Fall, but he is confident his prayers will be answered and he will be able to continue and finish school. Evens enjoys working and studying. He says he doesn’t have much time to play or goof off. There is always work to be done or subjects to be studied. His favorite subject in school is chemistry, and when he grows up, he wants to become a farmer and own his own farm so that he can provide jobs for people in the village and he can support his family.
