Sergeline is a 12 year old fourth grader from the village of Kadas near Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother, two sisters, and two brothers. To make money, her mother washes clothes for people. It is really hard work for very little money, but she does what she can with the little education that she has. Her mother was never able to go to school because her parents couldn’t afford it. She wants so desperately for her children to be able to go to school so they will have better opportunities. Sergeline and her brothers and sisters are all looking for sponsors so that they can have a better future as well as help their mother out. They decided on their own to come to Hope Center and ask to be put on the sponsorship list. They know that if they are in school and eating, it will help their mother feel better about her role as a single mother and it will help her with feeding her children as well. Sergeline enjoys helping her mother wash clothes, cleaning house, sleeping, eating, and going to church. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics. When she grows up, she wants to become an accountant.
