Makenn is a bright and active four year old from the village of Galette Chambon. He lives with his parents, one sister and one brother. His parents are vendors and they try to sell various toiletry items and paper goods in market to support their family. It is really hard for them to make a living doing this because the market only opens once per week now that there is so much danger in the village and it is also dangerous to go into town to refill their supplies. They certainly can’t take small children with them to market or to town to the distributor. Now that Makenn is old enough to be in kindergarten, they would love for him to go ahead and start school. However, they cannot afford the tuition. If Makenn is to go to school, he must have a sponsor. Makenn enjoys playing with his friends in the village and going to church. When he goes to school, he looks forward to learning how to write. When he grows up, he wants to become a police officer.
