Nerline is a shy and quiet six year old in our BGM preschool. She is in the K2 class. She lives in the village of Gallette Chambon with her parents, sister, and brother. Her parents are farmers on a local sharecropping farm. In the past, they have been able to keep some of their produce to sell at market and make a little extra money for their family. However, because of the struggling economy and the dangers in and around the village, they have not been able to sell produce in the market. This has reduced their income significantly. They have not been able to continue to pay Nerline’s tuition for school. If Nerline is going to continue school, she is going to have to have a sponsor. Nerline enjoys playing with her friends and studying her school lessons. She is excited that she has learn how to write her name and read some small words. Her favorite subject in school is math. When she grows up, she would like to become a nurse.
