ALFRONCE is a bright nine year old in 4th grade at Maranatha. He lives in a village up in the mountains called Boucandrice above Galette Chambon. He lives with his mother, father, and brother. His parents have a small business where they sell cleaning products to people in their village. Every month, they come down from their village in the mountains and go purchase products from a supplier in a city called Croix des Bouquet. They have had to find somewhere else to get their supplies in the last couple of years, however, because the gangs control the route to Croix des Bouquet. Two years ago, they were robbed trying to get to the supplier. They did find another supplier in another town, but the prices are much higher. This caused them to have to raise their prices too, and people just cannot afford to pay more, so their business has suffered tremendously. They desperately want their son to go to a good school, so they decided to save up to send him to the BGM Primary school in Galette Chambon. It’s a four hour hike from their village, but there are several students who walk it every day, so Alfronce joined in the group that leaves the village before 4 in the morning to get to school on time. He is happy to do it, however, because he knows how important it is to get a good education. Alfronce enjoys playing with friends, studying his lessons, and going to church with his family. His favorite subject in school is Experimental Science, and when he grows up, he wants to become a teacher.
