Ronaldson is a bright young man from the village of Galette Chambon. He is fifteen years old and in the 9th grade. He lives with his mother and one sister. Their father died several years ago. His mother works hard to support the family by making and selling charcoal in the village. Ronaldson tries to help his mother as much as he can by helping her with her charcoal business, helping her wash clothes, and helping with his little sister. He dreams of learning English one day well enough to speak it fluently. He enjoys playing soccer and marbles with this friends. His favorite subject is Mathematics and when he grows up he wants to become an engineer who builds houses for people. When asked what he loves most about his country, Ronaldson says he loves the beautiful bright blue sky that reflects the ocean all around and he loves the trees and flowers. He says, “My country is beautiful. I love my country.”
