THE PHOTO ABOVE AND INFORMATION BELOW ARE FROM 2016 WHEN CHRISTINA FIRST ENTERED THE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. SHE WAS FIVE AT THE TIME. NOW SHE IS TWELVE AND IN THE 3RD GRADE. SHE HAS MISSED TWO YEARS OF SCHOOL BECAUSE HER MOTHER HAD A STROKE AND ALL OF HER CHILDREN DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL TO TAKE CARE OF HER AND THE GARDEN. CHRISTINA HAS BEGGED HER FAMILY TO LET HER RETURN TO SCHOOL AND THIS YEAR THEY LET HER.  WHEN SHE STARTED BACK TO SCHOOL, HER BROTHER JOHNNY PAID HALF HER TUITION FOR HER. IN AUGUST JOHNNY WAS KILLED BY THE GANG AND THE FAMILY HAS STRUGGLED DESPERATELY WITHOUT HIM BECAUSE HE SUPPORTED THEM ALL. CHRISTINA NEEDS A SPONSOR NOW SO THAT SHE CAN CONTINUE SCHOOL.

Christina is a five year old girl who lives in Cargo with her mom and six siblings.  She is the sister of our one and only, Johnny, who worked with us at the Hope Center.  Christina’s mom is a vendor and a farmer and she works hard everyday to take care of her family. She struggles with migraines, however, so she often can’t work. Her older brother, Johnny, tries to help with the family income as much as possible, but it isn’t enough to feed the family and send all of the children to school. Christina doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up yet, but she is really excited about the possibility of going to school so that she can one day be whatever she wants to be! Christina loves to play with her puppies and she likes to help her brother feed the chickens, pigeons, and the family pig.
